This fine art print is of Limerick's most iconic landmark, the Treaty Stone, rivalled only by King Johns Castle. Limerick is famously known as the Treaty City, called after the Treaty of Limerick was signed on the 3rd of October 1691 after the war between William III of England (known as William of Orange) and his Father in Law King James II. The Treaty, according to tradition was signed on a stone in the sight of both armies at the Clare end of Thomond Bridge on the 3rd of October 1691 and has been resting on it's plinth since 1865 by John Richard Tinsley, mayor of the city. This illustration was hand drawn by Mary to be included in the designer's Limerick Toile de Jouy print because you simply can't have Limerick without its Treaty Stone. This artwork is the perfect gift for a Limerick lover, those living abroad or at home, or those visiting Limerick.
